Culture Festival “Slovo Gorčina”
The Slovo Gorčina culture festival has been held since 1971 in Stolac and at the necropolis of the stećak of Radimlje. From its first conception, immediately after the death of the poet Mak Dizdar, born in Stolac, the festival has had one constant and maximally cohesive element: the affirmation of the overall cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina, of everything, as it was already said at the first meetings, that man has created on this soil .
Slovo Gorčina is a festival that offers an opportunity for gathering with content that can be poetry, music, painting, film, philosophy, history and all other media of the human spirit. The goal of the festival is spiritual connection imbued with togetherness in all that is beautiful and useful. These are meetings that strive to symbolically represent the area, region and state of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the platform of unity, with a constant aspiration towards common humanity.
“Stolac, with its series of cultural and historical layers, represents the starting point and inspiring basis for further content in the continuation of the cultural heritage of our ancestors…” – with these words, along with the first issue of the newsletter “Slovo Gorčina” in 1973, the basic idea of the festival was presented, which and today it does not change.
