Underwater archaeological site Desilo

In the village of Bajovci, there is a lake-like backwater of Hutova Blata called Desilo with a spring of the same name, known in recent history as an archaeological site. The age of the archaeological findings dates back to the beginning of the 19th century.  In 1972, an archaeological team unearthed a large amount of amphora and an ancient monoxyl in the waters of Desilo, dating from the Middle Ages. Recent research has found an iron spear, a bronze axe, a fibula, a hook from the prehistoric period and various fragments of ceramics from Greek and Roman amphorae and local prehistoric pottery. Today, it is a prospective archaeological site, and the range of certain artifacts goes from the 2nd millennium BC to the 11th century BC. The site is in a dormant phase, but further research and its touristic valorization are being prepared
